Cheraw Arts Commission

The Cheraw Arts Commission is dedicated to creating a thriving cultural community by helping citizens encounter, engage and experience "The Arts" in a way that enriches their lives and enhances our community.

Pre-School Theatre Series
Throughout the school year, pre-schoolers are introduced to “live” theatre with performances by “Porkchop Productions”, a professional theatrical group.

Children's Playhouse Theatre Series
Professional performers delight kindergarten through sixth grade audiences with music, plays, puppets and more in this performance series.

Christmas Card Contest
A Cheraw tradition featuring the holiday art of local students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The cards are displayed in the Burr Art Gallery during the month of December.

Summer Theatre Camp
Campers participate in all aspects of theatre production culminating with a play at the end of camp. The camp is under the guidance and supervision of professional instructors.

Classes, Lectures, Workshops & Performances
Throughout the year, the Cheraw Arts Commission provides a variety of programming for all ages including theater, music, performing arts, visual and literary arts.

Cheraw Spring Festival
The Arts Commission sponsors a Fine Arts Show during Cheraw's annual Spring Festival. The exhibit features visual arts, photography, and fine crafts created by local children and teenagers, in addition to adult professional and amateur artists.

South Carolina Jazz Festival
Celebrate jazz in Dizzy’s hometown during this fall weekend celebration featuring concerts, exhibits, restaurant crawls, self-guided walking tours and more.

Cheraw Alive!! Meet Me Downtown Series
The Cheraw Arts Commission along with Town of Cheraw Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services present a series of summer concerts and children's activities on Cheraw's historic Town Green.

Burr Art Gallery
Located in the Cheraw Community Center, the gallery features work by local amateur and professional artists and traveling exhibits. The Arts Commission sponsors a Fine Arts Show during Cheraw's annual Spring Festival. The exhibit features visual arts, photography, and fine crafts created by local children and teenagers, in addition to adult professional and amateur artists. The galley is open Monday through Friday 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.

The Theatre on the Green
Housed in one of Cheraw’s interesting historic buildings, the Theatre on the Green seats 250. The theatre is used for the presentation of plays, concerts, and movies. It is also available for civic and community meetings.

Membership
The Arts Commission’s active membership is essential to the future of the arts in our community. Annual membership provides critical, unrestricted support for a variety of educational and outreach programs and exhibitions. Members who join the Cheraw Arts Commission, enjoy an insider's experience while ensuring that the commission’s programs remain accessible to all.
